CONNECTORS

A connector is a device that provides a mechanical and electrical interface between two objects, such as electronic devices, wires, cables, or circuit boards. Connectors come in a variety of shapes, sizes, and configurations to suit different applications and industries. They are commonly used to transmit signals, power, and data between devices.

Types of Connectors:

There are many different types of connectors, each designed for a specific purpose. Some of the most common types include:

  1. Through-hole mounting: In this type of mounting, the connector is inserted into holes drilled in the circuit board and soldered to the board on the opposite side.   2. Surface mount technology (SMT) mounting: SMT connectors are mounted directly onto the surface of the circuit board using solder paste and a reflow oven.   3. Edge mounting: Edge connectors are mounted along the edge of a circuit board and make contact with the edge of another board or a component. Edge connectors are commonly used in applications where frequent board replacement or maintenance is required, such as in computer peripherals.
